Earnings

Salaries for astrophysicists tend to parallel those listed for astronomers and physicists because of their job similarities. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median annual salary of physicists was $111,580 in May 2015. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $55,610, and the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $185,230. Astronomers earned salaries that ranged from less than $52,460 to $166,320 or more annually. In March 2017, Glassdoor.com reported salaries for astrophysicists that ranged from $60,000 to $140,000 or more.
