Ambassadors

Outlook

Since the end of the Cold War, the number of responsibilities of ambassadors and Foreign Service officers has increased; war, drug trade, nuclear smuggling, and terrorism are some of the issues confronting embassies today. Those people interested in protecting diplomacy and the strength of the Foreign Service need to closely follow relevant legislation, as well as promote the importance of international affairs. Those with the strongest educational backgrounds and experience in the Foreign Service will have the best prospects of landing a coveted position as an ambassador or other professional in the Foreign Service.
