The Holiday Inn Club Vacations concept was founded when Orange Lake Country Club formed an alliance with InterContinental in 2008. The partnership allowed Orange Lake to benefit from the strong Holiday Inn brand, as well as InterContinental's resources as a public company. In exchange, the deal helped InterContinental entered the timeshare industry through the exclusive licensing and marketing agreement with no capital investment. In its first three months of existence, Holiday Inn Club Vacations grew from one resort to six.
