About The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company

A popular stop for shoppers in the Northeast, The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company is one of the region's largest supermarket chains, with nearly 400 outlets in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. The company's Super Stop & Shop superstores offer a wider variety of food and nonfood items than its standard supermarkets, including a large number of convenience and specialty departments, such as gas stations, full-service pharmacies, office supplies, portrait studios, and photo shops. Stop & Shop is owned by supermarket operator Ahold Delhaize.

To position Stop & Shop for growth, Ahold Delhaize has divided the company into two regional groups: Stop & Shop Metro New York, with about 185 stores in southwestern Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey; and Stop & Shop New England, with about 220 stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut (except southwestern part of state). Both units operate supermarkets and superstores.
