About Highlights For Children, Inc.
Need help finding the hidden picture? Highlights for Children publishes Highlights, a children's magazine with a circulation of more than two million. Highlights targets children ages 0 to twelve. It is delivered to homes, schools, and libraries, and remains a staple of doctors' and dentists' office waiting rooms throughout the country. Highlights for Children also operates four book clubs, including Hidden Pictures Lovers, Puzzlemania, and Mathmania, which send kids a new kit or pair of books in the mail every four to six weeks. The company also produces a line of games and puzzles. Highlights for Children was founded in 1946 by husband-and-wife team Dr. Garry Cleveland Myers and Caroline Clark Myers.
Highlights brand has grown to a diverse and inclusive family of products for kids from birth to 12. Beyond Highlights Hello, High Five, High Five Bilingue, and Highlights magazines, its brand of wholesome fun extends to games, websites, mobile apps, and the book clubs Let's Grow, Let's Play Hidden Pictures, Eagle-Eye Hidden Pictures, Mathmania, Puzzlemania, Puzzle Buzz, Top Secret Adventures and Which Way USA.
With the company's flagship magazine's success, it expanded to include other companies. From its retail division, Highlights Press, to education group, Zaner Bloser, including textbook publishers, Stenhouse Publishers, and seminars for teachers at staff development for educators, all businesses make a significant contribution to the education of children.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Highlights' products are now available in approximately 40 countries and in over 15 languages. It has editorial offices in Pennsylvania, consumer business office in Ohio, and staff development for educators in New Hampshire.
Sales and Marketing
Highlights reaches children zero to twelve with its most popular magazines and books, and on multi-platform digital experiences, digital apps, toys/games, a podcast, and more.
Highlights for Children reflect the philosophy that children become their "best selves" by using their creativity and imagination; developing their reading, thinking, and reasoning skills; and learning to treat others with respect, kindness, and sensitivity. The company continues to publish content and create experience that engage, delight, and foster joyful learning for children. Highlights does this through partnerships with different organizations and launches of new and innovative services.
Among its partnerships was with Age of Learning, Inc. in early 2019, in which the new partnership adds Highlights Reading Quest book series from Highlights to its ReadingIQ digital library. ReadingIQ is available to teachers for use in classrooms at no cost and allows them to assign an entire reading level of books to each student to access at home without a subscription. Highlights also partnered with Bamboo Learning and launched Highlights Storybooks from Bamboo, which is a highly-engaging skill for Amazon Alexa featuring ability-leveled stories, animation, and narration from the Highlights Storybook Collection series.
Aside from these partnerships, Highlights also launched new services in 2020, such as Highlights@Home, a free email subscription that provides parents and kids with fun and memorable activities to enjoy while at home, Puzzle Readers, a new line of leveled readers that merges its signature Hidden Pictures puzzles with original stories for an immersed reading experience, and the 15 Minutes a Day to School Success, which is its first-ever subscription box service designed to support preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade learning.
