About Hulu

Hulu is an streaming service that was founded in 2007. It was a joint venture between News Corporation and NBC Universal, and eventually Providence Equity Partners and The Walt Disney Company joined in on the company. The official public launch of the site came a year later in 2008. Hulu broadcasts live TV, offers premium cable channel add-ons, streams thousands of TV shows and movies, and creates original content like Emmy winning televisions series The Handmaid’s Tale and The Act.

In 2019, the Walt Disney Company took on full operational control of Hulu. This acquisition has allowed Hulu to grow immensely. After Disney took control of Hulu, Hulu “became the only service that gives viewers instant access to current shows from every major U.S. broadcast network.” The platform has over 40 million U.S. subscribers, 70,000 TV episodes and movies, and 75 live channels. Hulu operates out of eight offices across the United States and in Beijing.

Hulu’s team is made up of passionate individuals from across the globe. From creative and content teams to customer support and marketing, every division at Hulu is integral to its success. As a primarily web-based service, one of the biggest teams at Hulu is its software development division. Hulu offers post-graduate job opportunities in this area that allow for upward development to more senior positions like development engineers and data scientists.

The employees at Hulu are not only the best in their fields, they also work together to make the world a better place outside of the TV and movie screens. Hulu’s donation-matching program has matched thousands of donations, and in one year alone Hulu employees serve over 2,700 volunteer hours. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, employees engaged in over 370 virtual volunteer activities.
