A global market research firm, the NPD Group offers retail sales tracking services, partnering with some retailers representing over 600,000 stores worldwide. Mergers and Acquisitions
In late 2020, The NPD Group has acquired Connecticut based Pricing Excellence, a retail analytics company which uses proprietary cloud-based computing technologies to deliver market insights. The acquisition complements NPD's robust portfolio of information services spanning more than 20 industries with new methodologies that will enhance the firm's ability to provide insight across emerging channels and provide more granular data faster.
Founded by Henry Brenner as Home Testing Institute in 1953, the company changed its name to National Purchase Diary Panel in 1967, later becoming known as NPD Group. Johnson, who joined the firm in 1971, acquired control of NPD when Brenner retired in 1986.
