About Information Resources, Inc
When products fly off the shelves, this company is watching -- and counting. Information Resources (IRI) is a market research and shopper intelligence firm, providing sales data for consumer packaged goods gathered from checkout scanners at more than 95,000 retail locations (excluding Wal-Mart, which doesn't release data) in the US and Europe. In addition to checkout scanner data, it gathers information via consumer panels and offers test marketing services. IRI also offers business intelligence software and tools, and it advises customers on key strategies such as strategic pricing, growth and innovation, shopper marketing, and customer and channel management.
IRI divides its operations across several segments: IRI Market Measurement, IRI Advanced Analytics, IRI Advantage, IRI Consumer & Shopper Marketing, and IRI Consulting.
The company deliver growth to CPG Manufacturer, retail, OTC health care and media clients through our six key areas of expertise: market performance and strategy; consumer and shopper; analytics and in-market execution; media; retail; and big data technology.
Chicago-based, IRI has operations in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The company also operates internationally including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, and the UK.
Sales and Marketing
IRI caters to 95% of the Fortune 100 and Fortune Global 500 and over 1,000 consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers and retailers. Clients have included Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Cadbury, and Unilever. It has more than 5,000 clients around the world.
As the global economy finally picks up, IRI is looking to grow both organically and through acquisitions. In 2019, IRI partnered with Vistar Media to provide a breakthrough offering to measure the direct sales impact of exposure to digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising. It also expanded its partnership with Ogury, as a result, Ogury will leverage the IRI Complete Audiences and IRI Lift solutions to validate the effectiveness of client campaigns and enhance its existing targeting capabilities.
Its more recent business ventures include a preferred market and consumer insights partnership with Pharmative as it joins the growing list of companies utilizing IRI's advanced analytics and modeling solutions to drive brand growth.
Aside from partnerships, IRI also launched new solutions. It launched the IRI CPG Demand IndexTM Forecasts in mid-2020, projects the impact of complex, interdependent factors on consumer demand, including pandemic persistence, lifestyle shifts, in-home versus out-of-home consumption patterns, consumer sentiment, channel shifts, unemployment, income growth, and government events. IRI also released the IRI CPG Channel Shift Index and IRI CPG E-Commerce Demand Index as additions to its COVID-19 Insights Dashboard, which already includes the Demand Index, Supply Index, and Demand Index Forecasts.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Information Resources was founded in 1979, and an indelible mark on the industry begins. In 1992, IRI expands into Europe with the UK introduction of InfoScan.
