“The best work culture I have experienced”
June 2021FORMER EMPLOYEE
Uppers

The group's management have all collectively decided to develop culture that combats the things they have seen before at other firms. It is therefore a really supportive and thoughtful culture that prizes consultant growth over conformity and a one size fits all framework.

There is no set formula at Back Bay so if you can run with responsibility your first year, they let you. If you take longer to get up to speed, the managers and directors will help you as well. If you want to write a white paper, you can. If you want to lead a workstream, you can do that too.

If you like sciences, the firm has some of the more interesting projects (albeit tough) in the ecosystem and you will learn the ins and outs of biopharma from startup to Fortune 50 company.

Being able to work side by side with the deal team is also a huge advantage as you can see the rubber meet the road in the consulting work.

Downers

It is a small firm that acts like a big firm but doesn't always have the resources. During peak busy, everyone can get exhausted and its up to the managers to make sure work gets divided up appropriately.

Advice to Candidates

If you love science, like working with a close knit team, and want to be in the thick of biopharma strategy as it relates to pipeline and asset development, Back Bay is the place for you.
