A pioneer of information technology in the 1950s, to defining what success looks like in the 21st century and beyond, Accenture has been a disruptive innovator for more than half a century.
Today, Accenture is helping the world's leading companies imagine the future and bring it to life. The firm has put innovation firmly at the core of their business model with what it has coined the Accenture Innovation Architecture, bringing together Accenture Research to identify market and technology trends, Accenture Ventures to invest in growth-stage companies, Accenture Labs to incubate and prototype new concepts through applied R&D, and Accenture Studios to build innovative solutions for clients with speed and agility.
Up next? Accelerating the pace of innovation. By the end of 2020, Accenture will open 10 new innovation hubs across the U.S - destinations where Accenture's people work side-by-side with their clients to ideate, rapidly prototype and launch transformative ideas that help them to reimagine their futures and solve their biggest challenges. In these hubs - like the one recently opened in Houston Texas - Accenture's clients have hands-on access to digital and emerging technologies that have the power to transform business (think artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, drones with computer vision and virtual reality). Additionally, the company is investing $1.4 billion in training to ensure its people have leading-edge capabilities to serve its clients, while creating 15,000 highly skilled new jobs in the U.S.
Wherever you're looking to take your career, Accenture likely has a role for you. Join one of the company's businesses: Accenture Strategy to shape the future at the intersection of business and technology; Accenture Consulting to transform businesses through industry expertise and insights; Accenture Digital to create value through new experiences, new intelligence and new connections; Accenture Technology to power businesses with cutting-edge solutions using established and emerging technologies; Accenture Operations to deliver outcomes through infrastructure, cloud and business process services; or Accenture Security to infuse security into everything they do.
Investing in People
Delivering on its commitment to innovation, and with a focus on "NEW" skills, Accenture invested more than US$941 million on training and professional development in fiscal 2016. The company defines NEW as the combination of digital-, cloud- and security-related services, all enabled by new and innovative technology. Accenture Connected Learning-a virtual campus of connected classrooms, more than 800 digital learning boards and thousands of online courses-supports learning anywhere, anytime, linking its people to professional content and world-class experts from inside and outside Accenture.
Additionally, the company has eliminated the annual ranking. Performance Achievement, the company's new approach to performance management, includes real-time, forward-looking conversations about setting priorities, growing strengths and creating opportunities tailored to each individual.
Getting to Equal
Accenture is taking steps to increase progress toward a more diverse and inclusive workplace, for example, by setting new goals for gender diversity. For Accenture, gender equality is critical to its business and an essential element of an inclusive, innovative workplace. The company has set goals and marked milestones in its progress to hold itself accountable. Earlier this year, it set a new goal to achieve a gender-balanced workforce, with 50 percent women and 50 percent men, by 2025. In 2016, Accenture surpassed its goal to reach 40 percent women new hires worldwide. Currently, the company has more than 150,000 women, nearly 40 percent of its global workforce.
Making a Difference
Accenture uses its global capabilities and digital experience to address a wide range of societal issues-and improve the way the world works and lives. For example, the company collaborated with Biogen to develop a first-of-its-kind molecular comparison application which has the potential to significantly speed up drug discovery and bring medicines to people faster. With Microsoft, Accenture is helping the United Nations provide digital legal identification for refugees who have no official documents, with a digital ID network that runs on blockchain technology and connects existing public and commercial records so people can access their personal details from any location.
Outside of client work, Accenture people love to give back and donate their time. They are passionate about improving the way the world works and lives. Last year, company employees spent approximately 240,000 hours volunteering through its global corporate citizenship initiative, Skills to Succeed, which helps transform lives by equipping people with the skills to get a job or start a business. Accenture is on track to equip 3M+ people worldwide with workplace and entrepreneurial skills by 2020.
