The firm was founded in 1952 and has since expanded its presence with domestic branches in New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and two offices abroad in London and Singapore. The BTI Consulting Group placed the firm on its “Client Service A-Team” 2013 list as one of seven “leaders of the best” at providing value for the dollar.” Vedder Price ranks in the AmLaw 200 for gross revenue and is ranked as Band 1 in Chambers in the following categories: Chambers USA IL Labor & Employment: Employee Benefits and Compensation, Chambers USA Nationwide Transportation: Aviation: Finance. Guardians of the Skies and the Seas

Vedder Price doesn’t restrict itself to dealing with the law of the land. The firm’s Global Transportation Finance practice encompasses aviation, maritime, railroad and aerospace industries. The firm finances all manners of transportation vessels from railway cars to cruise ships, ferries and carriers to commercial and turboprop aircraft, small jets, satellites and helicopters. Vedder Price is particularly known for its Aviation and Maritime Finance practices. The firm wrote an amicus curiae brief for the Maritime Law Association of the United States in the U.S. Supreme Court case Fane Lozman v. The City of Riviera Beach, Fla., where the Supreme Court ruled that plaintiff Lozman’s floating home did not technically count as a vessel, effectively deciding that while a house may not be a home, it certainly isn’t a boat.

Vedder Price Diversity Scholarship

The firm launched the Vedder Price Diversity Scholarship in 2005. Law students from a select group of law schools are eligible (see the firm's website for a complete list). The scholarship grants $7,500 to each recipient to defray law school expenses, as well as a summer associate position at the firm following the recipient's 1L year. The firm generally awards one scholarship out of its New York office and one out of its Chicago office.
