About Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP

Taft employs nearly 400 attorneys who work out of nine offices in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Arizona. The firm operates in just about every practice area, including business and finance, business restructurings, environmental, health and life sciences, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, private client, real estate and tax, among many others.

19th Century Origins

Taft traces its roots back to 1885, when Judge William Worthington and Edward W. Strong founded Worthington & Strong. A few years and a name change later, John L. Stettinius and John B. Hollister joined the firm’s ranks. In 1924, a year after Worthington’s death, former President William Howard Taft’s sons joined the firm, and Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP was born. Within a couple of decades, the firm established itself with groundbreaking work, most prominently the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947.

Working Well With Others

Taft attorneys often partner with members of the firm’s affiliated businesses to provide comprehensive service to clients. These partnerships allow clients to access business consulting across a variety of disciplines, from general planning and forecasting to government relations and public policy. Taft’s affiliated businesses include Focused Capitol Solutions LLC, Ginovus LLC, Ingardus LLC, Taft Business Consulting LLC, Taft HR Solutions LLC and The Mid-American Regional Center.

Going Global

In a move to stay connected with clients on a global scale, Taft has a membership with both the Interlex Group and Lexwork International. The Interlex Group is an association of leading law firms around the world that collaborate to provide a complete range of international legal and business services to clients. Through its affiliation with The Interlex Group, Taft is able to identify and develop new ways of assisting businesses engaged in cross-border transactions.

Similarly, Lexwork International is a strategic alliance of midsized law firms based in major cities in the United States, Canada and Europe, with additional offices in Asia. Each member firm supplies the legal services required by corporate clients, within its own jurisdiction. Together, these firms also provide support for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction transactions, as needed.
