About Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein L.L.P
As North Carolina as NASCAR, college hoops, and vinegary barbecue, Parker Poe has been operating in the Tar Heel State for over a century and a quarter. Now around 225 attorneys in eight regional offices represent many of the Southeast’s largest companies and local governments in transactions, regulatory issues, and complex litigation.
Parker Poe traces its roots back to 1884, when it was founded in Charlotte, NC, by Heriot Clarkson, later a justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. A century later the firm had grown to more than 65 lawyers in its single Charlotte office and had one of the state’s most sophisticated general corporate and business practices. The next 30 years brought Parker Poe out of North Carolina, as the firm grew by merger and expansion to eight offices: two in in North Carolina, four in South Carolina, and its most recent additions in Atlanta and Washington, DC.
