Diversity and Inclusion

Our internal policies include: expansive parental leave for opposite-sex and same-sex couples, domestic partner benefits, an on-ramping period following return from parental leave, purposeful sponsorship and coaching, and flexible work arrangements that respect our employees’ diverse work/life demands. Remote work, or telecommuting, is available to attorneys. We offer unlimited vacation time to attorneys, a purposeful sponsorship program for diverse associates, and gender-neutral parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child (up to 16 weeks paid).

Lowenstein’s employee resource groups provide forums for career development, personal enrichment, community service, and fellowship. Pro Bono

The Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest

From its founding, Lowenstein Sandler has been committed to advancing the public interest. Now in its tenth year, the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest remains a robust advocate for individuals, organizations, and communities in need.

During the 22 years the firm has tracked data, Lowenstein lawyers have donated 418,158 hours of free legal services to marginalized populations. The Center collaborates with a wide array of other organizations in providing pro bono legal services for:

•  Asylum seekers  •  Low-income inventors 
•  Tenants fighting eviction  •  Individuals in bankruptcy
•  Survivors of domestic violence  •  Transgender people 
•  Veterans  •  People with low-level criminal convictions

Our Culture

Vault’s 2019 Associates Quality of Life survey found that Lowenstein placed in the top half of eligible firms for Satisfaction, Culture, Informal Training & Mentoring, Diversity for Minorities and LGBTQ Individuals, Business Outlook, Selectivity, Integration of Laterals & Clerks, and the overall ranking of the Best Firms to Work For.

We develop our attorneys by implementing effective programming such as “Getting to Know You” lunches, designed to help first- and second-year associates set the stage for success and connection early on. Our networking skills-building program provides associates with the tools to become effective networkers. Our Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program pairs each new attorney with a mentor who helps him or her integrate into the firm, understand firm culture and procedures, and answer career questions.

Because no two lawyers’ career paths look alike, we offer alternative ways for them to find their passion. Currently, 23 percent of our non-partner attorneys are in alternative career path roles.
