Was handed the lead on a pro bono case, which has continued as an associate.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Summer associates are assigned to an associate who manages their assignments and workload; generally, your work is filtered through that person, so that you don&#39;t get overwhelmed with work. The firm also has trainings each week, usually 1-2 lunchtime trainings, that go over things like billing time, legal research, and how to use the firm technology, among other more substantive things that are specific to each practice group.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Training, understanding projects from a high level, and interaction with coworkers was valued more than my specific assignments, or whether I completed them well. This allowed me to evaluate life at the firm without so much pressure, or being too nervous that I was going to mess something up.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“I was able to do hands-on substantive work, and rotate through different practice areas, to gain exposure to different groups within our corporate practice.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;“The firm&#39;s summer associate program is at its best when it comes to building relationships between summers and attorneys at the firm. All of the events are designed to foster those relationships so that, on day one at the firm, you come in with a sense of confidence and familiarity.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“There are usually 1-2 social events a week, ranging from dinners and outings at sporting events, to bike tours and cooking classes. There are often additional social events that are more impromptu. These events are very well attended by everyone at the firm. Summer associate class camaraderie is excellent. I am still good friends with everyone who was in my class who came to the firm.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“We had a number of social events each week, which felt full, but not overwhelming. I met lawyers from every practice group, got to know my fellow summer associates (who remain friends to this day), and experienced much of what Atlanta has to offer. It was a thoroughly fun summer.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Our summer program was extremely social and comfortable. The group was big enough to include people of different experiences, ages, and backgrounds, but small enough where we were able to establish real personal connections with a majority of the group. Senior attorneys frequently attended our events, and during the summer session, we were able to make lasting connections with those attorneys. I currently work on a team with attorneys I met during the summer session.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Obviously, your life as a summer associate is different than your life as a real associate. Your job as a summer is to get to know people, not to bill hours. That said, the way that attorneys at K&amp;amp;S treat one another is exactly as it was when I was a summer. I&#39;ve also been pleasantly surprised by the relationships I&#39;ve been able to build with partners, and in the quality of work I&#39;ve gotten, as well as my ability to choose the kind of work I do.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“I have been pleasantly surprised by the work-life balance, and meaningful human connection at the firm, specifically in my practice group.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“I haven&#39;t had any big surprises as an associate. After having so many one-on-one conversations with associates and partners during my summer program, I developed a pretty accurate picture of what the associate experience would be like.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Across the board, I&#39;ve been pleasantly surprised by my experiences. During the summer, it was stressed that we&#39;d be working with senior associates and partners closely, and while that may be a common slogan for all summer programs, in my experience, it has been very true. I&#39;ve been able to establish close personal relationships with many partners.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;

I also enjoyed the bike tour.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“The firm had all the summer associates from all different offices meet in Atlanta, and participate in a mock negotiation. It was an amazing opportunity to meet summers from all over the country.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;“Baseball game; sushi roll making class.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
