Who We Represent
Our clients are public and privately-held commercial businesses and financial institutions, as well as governments and state-owned entities, involved in advanced international business and financial transactions and complex dispute resolution proceedings.
Our broad and diverse client base includes businesses owned and operated in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Our largest client accounts for only 6 percent of gross revenues and our top five clients account for only 14 percent of gross revenues. More than 49 percent of our revenue comes from non-Texas based companies and another 15 percent from internationally-based companies.
Haynes and Boone was founded in Texas in 1970 and still believes that our connection to the Texas business community is one of our greatest assets. Texas has one of the largest and most stable state economies in the U.S. It is home to more Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 headquarters than any other state. Our diverse economy maintains its stronghold in energy and agriculture, and it has grown into a leader in internationally-focused financial services, technology, telecom and transportation. Each of these factors combine to make Texas an optimal market for national and multinational companies looking for opportunities to expand physically and financially. Haynes and Boone’s lawyers leverage our preeminent position in Texas, our market knowledge and professional relationships to help clients take advantage of the multitude of international opportunities stemming from Texas, the southwest and beyond.
Haynes and Boone has offices in Texas, New York, Shanghai, California, Washington, D.C., and Mexico City. With a strong focus on international corporate/securities/M&A, finance, bankruptcy and business restructuring, intellectual property, energy, real estate and high-end business litigation, we are poised to help our clients with all of their business needs. We routinely handle complex business matters involving multiple entities both here and abroad, advanced financing vehicles, transactions and projects in multiple industries and across global regions, cross-border transactions and projects, inbound and outbound investments, projects and transactions, intellectual property and technology transactions and litigation, and all aspects of business litigation.
Haynes and Boone, LLP has a strong history of being recruiting, retaining and promoting diverse attorneys. We believe that overall diversity enhances innovation and the delivery of quality legal services to a diverse clientele. A wide range of perspectives and a unique understanding of the cultural nuances of global markets heightens our ability to strategically and effectively navigate clients’ complex business needs. In short, our differences make us stronger.
Haynes and Boone has a robust 60 person Attorney Diversity Committee (ADC) designed to ensure the firm’s diversity-related goals, objectives and initiatives remain relevant, effective and aligned with the business needs of our diverse attorneys and clients. The ADC consists of partners, associates and key members of management and focuses on five significant areas the firm has identified as important drivers of success for its diverse lawyers --awareness, hiring, retention, promotion and leadership.
The committee works with the firm to develop policies and programs designed to foster success and elevate ideals into action, and upholds the firm’s overall commitment to attract and retain lawyers of varied backgrounds who reflect the global marketplace that we serve, and mirror the diverse communities in which we live.

We are committed to serving the communities in which we are located. Toward that end, we annually dedicate substantial time and funds to pro bono work and community service. This commitment is integral to the Haynes and Boone culture. Richard Haynes was a strong and consistent advocate of community service in Dallas and received the Justinian Award for Public Service in recognition of his contributions to such organizations as the Dallas Art Museum and the Baylor Medical Center Foundation. Mike Boone was the 2008 recipient of the J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award, presented by Southern Methodist University’s Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Responsibility to honor his civic activism, commitment to public service and generous charitable contributions. This heritage from our founding partners is reflected in the broad array of community organizations that benefit from involvement by members of our firm.
