Not to be confused Indiana Jones and Han Solo, FordHarrison is one of the preeminent labor and employment firms in the U.S. The firm has a presence in 20 states, and its nearly 200 attorneys represent employers in employment litigations, business immigration, employee benefits, and all other aspects of employment and labor law.

Big Peach Beginnings

In 1978, Lash Harrison had been practicing employment law for about 14 years when he co-founded FordHarrison with a group of attorneys in Atlanta. Over the next 40 years, he would serve as its managing partner and oversee organic growth and mergers to see it grow to nearly 30 offices throughout the country.

Leading the L&E Pack

Today, FordHarrison is a leader in the labor and employment sphere, counseling clients in all areas of employment, from recruitment to hiring to retention to discipline to discharge. The firm advises on myriad issues in this space, including employee benefits, business immigration, wage and hour claims, disability, labor relations, cross-border matters, and more. Among the industries serviced by the firm are airline, automotive, health care, hospitality, insurance, and retail—to name a handful.

Lawyers at FordHarrison also work with clients to avoid potential employment disputes through company audits, as well as planning when it comes to employee training, company policies, employee handbooks, and more. Additionally, FordHarrison works with clients to develop comprehensive diversity and inclusion programs.

The firm also stays nimble, remaining at the forefront of developing areas of employment law. For example, the firm has established a Coronavirus Taskforce to assist clients with employment matters relating to the pandemic. The firm also works with clients in the area of cannabis law to help navigate issues like reasonable accommodation, drug testing, background checks, and employee health and wellness plans.

A Year without Billing

While the billable hour may be the scourge of every practicing lawyer, first-year associates at FordHarrison don’t have to worry about it. During a new lawyer’s first 15 months at the firm, there is no billable-hours expectation or requirement. This allows new lawyers to shadow attorneys as they conduct depositions and attend hearings and strategy meetings without any pressure on the new lawyers to bill their time.
