About Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP
Bilzin Sumberg is a Miami-based commercial law firm with a wide range of domestic and international clients, from high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, investors, and developers to Fortune 500 companies. The firm's core practices include business finance & restructuring, corporate, environmental, land development & government relations, international, litigation, real estate, and tax.
In 1998, two lawyers left their respective firms in New York and headed south to Miami to form a partnership that would end up becoming Bilzin Sumberg. Since its inception, Bilzin Sumberg has housed all of its attorneys under one roof in the heart of Miami, allowing the firm to embed itself in the local community. As a result, Bilzin attorneys have a deep knowledge of the South Florida market, and many international companies doing business in Florida turn to the firm.
Deep Miami Ties
Bilzin Sumberg is a full-service firm with transactional, litigation, governmental, and private wealth and tax practices. The firm’s attorneys are deeply integrated into Miami's business, legal, and government communities. Latin American markets are at the core of the firm’s international practice, which has a global reach in areas like international inbound and outbound transactions, mergers & acquisitions, estate practices, and real estate development and construction. Many of the firm's attorneys are fluent in Spanish or Portuguese.
Closer to home, Bilzin Sumberg has been at the core of many high-profile Miami transactions. In recent years, the firm spearheaded the $60 million sale of Miami’s Jungle Island park, navigated the Miami Dolphins’ stadium renovation (which led to the new Hard Rock Stadium being awarded the 2020 Super Bowl), and represented All Aboard Florida in its $2.4 billion high-speed passenger rail project connecting South and Central Florida. Given the firm’s major role itself in Miami land development, Bilzin Sumberg also broadcasts a bimonthly podcast discussing what’s new in the Miami-Dade County real estate and infrastructure scenes.
The Model for Legal Project Management
Bilzin Sumberg touts a Legal Project Management (“LPM”) software model that has received significant industry recognition and has been the basis for industry white papers. The firm’s LPM software aims to improve efficiency and control costs from the onset of a project, while providing complete client transparency along the way. One cornerstone of the program is “just-in-time” training materials, which are integrated into the program and allow easier access to information at the time it is needed.
