Great reputation in Tennessee. The firm has around 40 public company clients. Great in health care -- both in litigation and on the transactional side. Beautiful Nashville offices. Great people to work with. Only encountered a few mean partners. Exit opportunities. Can work from home some if neeeded
Downers
Memphis office lost a lot of its corporate practice when a partner left, but they have grown the health care practice there. Can work longer hours. Longer partnership track than some Tennessee firms. Unpredictable hours. Sometimes long hours.
Advice to Candidates
They will hire top candidates from regional schools and they love Vanderbilt. As far as the interview goes, have some idea as to whether you'd prefer a corporate/transactional track or a litigation track. Typically you have to choose a path but as a summer associate you can do work in either. If not from Tennessee then be prepared for "Why Bass?" and "Why Memphis or Nashville?" questions.
