About Ashfords LLP

Since Ashfords emerged out of the 2004 demerger of Bevan Ashford, this South West player has charted a path of steady growth and staked out a place among the region’s heavyweights. In 2006, Ashfords put litigation head Ian Daniells in its chief executive role with a mandate to continue the firm’s rapid expansion. He quickly approved a plan to move Bristol lawyers to a new 5,000-square-foot office in an effort to boost the firm’s presence in the city, and the firm later moved Taunton solicitors to more modern offices in that city. In June 2009, Daniells was unanimously reelected to a second term.

Regional heavyweight

The demerger saw Ashfords enter the scene with a highly regarded corporate practice, as well as strong commercial litigation, commercial property, intellectual property and private client departments. The firm’s clients range from local startups to major banks such as Lloyds TSB and HSBC, in addition to its public sector clients, individual investors and individuals. The firm’s prestigious corporate finance team topped Corpfin’s regional league tables for the value of deals completed in 2008. Since the start of 2009, the firm has advised Eden Ventures on a number of investments, and the firm’s planning team was among just two South West firms cited in Planning magazine’s solicitors league tables in May 2009. In December 2008, Ashfords won a place on the Treasury Solicitor’s Department’s “Lit-Cat” legal panel, where it will provide litigation and regulatory advice to the department’s in-house legal staff.
