Adams and Reese was founded in New Orleans in 1951 by St. Clair Adams, Jr. and W. Ford Reese. Focused on growth within its regional footprint, the firm first moved out of the crescent city in 1984 with the opening of its Baton Rouge office. Since then the firm has slowly grown with office openings and mergers to have offices the Gulf States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, as well as Tennessee, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C.
Adams and Reese attorneys don’t need to brag about themselves; other people do it for them. The firm’s lawyers are permanently camped out on lists like Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Chambers. The firm itself has received a slew of recognitions in everything from practice areas to diversity and employee satisfaction. The firm’s diversity efforts have earned it a spot as one of the “Top 100 Firms for Diversity” by MultiCultural Magazine and one of the “Top 200 Firms for Women Equity Partners” by the American Lawyer, along with numerous other diversity recognitions, including the Diversity Award of Excellence by Corporate Counsel Women of Color. Additionally, Adams and Reese received the Law Firm Diversity Award from the National Bar Association at its Annual Meeting in 2013.
HUGS for All
Adams and Reese takes the notion of Southern hospitality one step further by giving back to its community. In 1988, Adams and Reese founded a corporate philanthropy program known as HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving, and Support) through which the firm has donated thousands of volunteer service hours and financial resources to assisting those in need. Adams and Reese maintains close relationships with several HUGS partner organizations in each of its 15 communities and organizes fundraising efforts throughout the year. Additionally, the Adams and Reese pro bono program, CA&RE (Caring Adams and Reese Employees), encourages every attorney to perform 20 hours of annual pro bono service assisting members of the community who need accessible no-cost legal services.
