Spectrum covers more ground that it used to. The cable TV provider is the Charter Communications-engineered combination of Charter's own cable operations and Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, which Charter acquired in 2016. Spectrum has operations in more than 40 states across the US, serving about 25 million residential and more than a million business customers with video, high-speed data , and voice offerings, as well as security and home management. In addition to video, voice, and data, other business services include networking and transport, outsourced IT, and cloud computing.

Spectrum operates local news broadcasting stations in New York (including New York City), North Carolina, and Texas, regional sports networks, as well as a news, sports, and entertainment online portal.
Spectrum has subscribers in more than 40 states, but its core service areas are in New York, the Midwest, Texas, the Carolinas, and southern California.
Sales and Marketing
Spectrum markets its products and services via a host of direct channels (online, telemarketing, e-mail marketing, door-to-door sales), as well as through third-party partners and retailers.
Spectrum's size and scope are its competitive advantages. It does business in all parts of the country including population centers in California, Texas, and the upper Midwest. While still smaller than Comcast, Spectrum delivers a bigger audience to content providers and advertisers than smaller, more regional pay-TV players.
The size and scope also presents Spectrum with integration problems. It has worked to connect its far-flung enterprises and consolidate under common subscriber plans and customer service offerings. Anything that polishes the tarnished customer service reputation of cable providers would generate goodwill.
While there is a sizable cadre of competitors in cable and satellite TV providers, Spectrum also faces the specter of over-the-top streaming services aimed at customers who are dropping their pay subscriptions. Spectrum has yet to develop a streaming app even as satellite provides such as DISH Network and DIRECTV has introduced them. Competitors Google and AT&T have ramped up their deployments of fiber cable throughout the country.
