Verizon Media (formerly Oath Inc.) is the holding company for a number of well-known websites and media groups, including Yahoo, Huffington Post, AOL, and Tech Crunch. Verizon Media also has a partnership with Microsoft with their MSN, Microsoft News, Outlook and Xbox. The company's main revenue streams are from targeting advertising on its own properties as well as third-party properties through its advertising platforms, search advertising, and subscription arrangements. A subsidiary of US telecoms giant Verizon Communications Inc, Verizon Media accounts for around 5% of its parent's annual revenue. The company was renamed Verizon Media in 2019. It sold Tumblr in 2019 at a reportedly almost total loss.
Financial Performance
Verizon Media's revenue is growing as it acquires additional media brands. In 2018 revenue surged 29% to $7.7 billion on the full-year contribution of Yahoo's operating business, acquired in mid-2017.
