About Liberty Mutual Insurance

Liberty Mutual Insurance was formed in July of 1912, initially offering workers compensation insurance under the name Massachusetts Employees Insurance Association (MEIA). The very first branch office was opened in 1914, and Liberty Mutual began offering auto insurance policies in 1918. It was also around this time that MEIA changed its name to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. An interesting fact is that in 1920, while the film industry was in its infancy, Liberty Mutual used the medium to create what are possibly the very first workplace safety videos in history.

Liberty Mutual offers an array of insurance products such as vehicle insurance, homeowners’ insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, commercial auto insurance, and more. Individuals looking to start a career with Liberty Mutual will see a wide variety of interesting opportunities outside of the usual sales, claims, and customer services jobs. Liberty Mutual has open positions for those interested in nursing, in which employees would be involved in case management for Worker’s Compensation. There, nurses evaluate injuries, and create treatment plans to help people prepare to return to work.

Liberty Mutual is committed to empowering communities through the work of its employees with its Liberty Torchbearers system. Liberty Torchbearers is comprised of three separate programs: Give with Liberty, Volunteer with Liberty, and Serve with Liberty. Each program is designed to help Liberty Mutual employees donate to and volunteer for their favorite causes in various ways.
