About Kemper

Chicago-based Kemper offers automobile insurance, life insurance, and health insurance. The company was founded by Henry Singleton in 1990 and was originally called Unitrin. The company was a spin-off of Singleton’s conglomerate Teledyne. In 2002, Unitrin acquired the renewal rights for Kemper Insurance’s homeowners and automobile insurance products. By 2010, Unitrin had purchased the Kemper name and has since been selling insurance products as Kemper Insurance.

Kemper has a robust internship program geared towards students and recent graduates, enabling participants to work alongside seasoned professionals and build lasting networks. Those looking to start a career with Kemper will find open opportunities in areas such as data analytics, finance, accounting, product management, HR, IT, marketing, and more.

Kemper’s Sustainability Committee was designed to help identify and mitigate the environmental impact resulting from regular business operations. The committee reports directly to CEO Joseph Lacher, Jr., and seeks to eliminate the use of non-eco-friendly office materials, incorporate solar energy into new and upcoming facilities, reduce energy use across all operations, and source printer paper only from well-managed and approved forests.
