Great American Insurance's annuity premiums have tripled over the last ten years from $1.4 billion in 2019 to $5 billion in 2019. This tremendous premium growth demonstrates its continuing commitment to providing annuity products that can help clients reach their long-term goals. Property & Casualty Premiums also rose significantly over the years, rising to $7.3 billion in 2019. The majority of the written premiums come from Specialty Casualty, followed by Property and Transformation, and Specialty Financial.

Great American Insurance has released a variety of new products and services in recent years. In late 2020, it launched pomi, a digital health platform and website for accident and health (A&H) insurance. Pomi (an acronym for Peace of Mind Insurance) is the company's first all-digital platform where brokers can quote and bind most blanket special risk policies in just a few minutes. Great American Insurance Group launched a new admitted cyber risk insurance product, the Risk e-Business Cyber Loss & Liability Insurance Policy, for small and medium-sized businesses.
In addition, Great American Insurance Group recently added a new Accident & Health Division in mid-2019, becoming the company's 35th specialty property and casualty business and will build upon Great American's existing array of Accident & Health insurance coverages, focusing on customized coverages for organizations and educational institutions.
In 2011 Great American Insurance bought CUMIS, an equipment maintenance insurance provider to credit unions, from CUNA Mutual. It then added the business to its existing Equipment Management Solutions business. Great American Insurance has been around since 1872, making it one of the oldest insurers in the US. The Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds, is named after the company.
