About CC Services, Inc.

CC Services is out to secure its clients against life's little mishaps. Also known as COUNTRY Financial, and operating through its COUNTRY Life and COUNTRY Mutual Insurance businesses, the company provides insurance services, including life, property/casualty, farm and ranch, disability and other traditional insurance products. Its COUNTRY Trust Bank and COUNTRY Capital Management units offer retirement planning, investment advice, asset management, and mutual funds. True to its agricultural roots, it still offers such farm-related products as crop insurance.

CC Services serves about 1 million customers in 40 US states.

COUNTRY Life Insurance operates as a stock company while its property/casualty sibling COUNTRY Mutual Insurance is a mutual firm governed by policyholders. COUNTRY Life had $73 billion life insurance in force and had $670 million premium income in 2012. COUNTRY Property/Casualty Companies had 2.4 million polices/autos in force and reported $2 billion premium income.

Geographic Reach

Independent financial representatives provide COUNTRY annuities, disability income, long term care, and life insurance to customers in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Washington. Its mutual insurance products are sold in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York (Growth Fund only), North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Illinois boasts the largest concentration of CC Services' independent agents and customers.

Sales and Marketing

The company sells its products through a network of independent agents, as well as through an affiliation agreement the MiddleOak companies (Middlesex Mutual Assurance and Holyoke Mutual Insurance), which sells COUNTRY Mutual's products in the Northeast. Illinois-based CSMR is COUNTRY Life's exclusive distributor to independent agents.

While property/casualty premiums still account for the bulk of its income, that corner of the industry is fairly mature and growth is hard to come by. In response, CC Services has been steadily promoting its life and financial services products, which have grown accordingly (both organically and via acquisitions).

Mergers and Acquisitions

To increase its direct property/casualty operations, COUNTRY Financial acquired the operations of former marketing affiliate Cotton States Mutual Insurance Company in 2012. The Cotton States policy underwriting duties for customers in the Southeast were taken over by the COUNTRY Mutual division.

Company Background

CC Services maintains ties to the Illinois Agricultural Association (the legal name of the Illinois Farm Bureau).

It traces its roots back to 1925, when a group of agricultural workers created a fire and lightning insurance company.
