Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is working to stay competitive as the value-based model of health care becomes more widely adopted. It has also been investing in health improvement initiatives in order to reduce unhealthy behaviors (smoking, obesity) among its members. The ultimate goal is to lower medical costs over the long term. Towards those ends, the organization in 2018 established a partnership with Sharecare to offer personalized wellness platforms to group customers. Sharecare will provide the underlying tools for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota's digital health management offerings, which aim to increase participation among employees. These will include customized rewards programs and wellness challenges.
