About Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC

The great OZ

Founded in 1994 by ex-Goldman Sachs insider Daniel S. Och, Och-Ziff Capital Management Group is one of the largest hedge funds in the world. It has approximately $29 billion in assets under management, having grown its assets from about $6 billion in 2001. Prior to starting his own hedge fund firm, Och worked at Goldman for more than a decade, serving in Goldman's risk arbitrage department before becoming head of proprietary trading in its equities unit and co-head of its U.S. equities trading division. Och-Ziff is headquartered in New York and has additional offices in London, Mumbai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. The firm's main investment strategies are convertible and derivative arbitrage, credit, long/short equity special situations, merger arbitrage, private investments and structured credit. Its four primary funds are OZ Master Fund, OZ Europe Master Fund, OZ Asia Master Fund, and OZ Global Special Investments Master Fund. Och-Ziff is a publicly-traded firm—it issued a $1.2 billion IPO in November 2007—and employs approximately 430 people, including 130 investment professionals.
