About National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) strives to make getting from point A to point B a safer. A division of the Department of Transportation, the NHTSA offers education, research, safety standards, and enforcement services aimed at preventing injuries and reducing economic costs stemming from traffic accidents. The administration provides information and educational materials regarding motor vehicle and highway safety; it also offers a variety of grants and programs to curb hazardous highway and driving conditions. The NHTSA is also home to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis and compiles state-by-state profiles of traffic safety data.
