About Grain Inspection, Packers & Stockyards Administration
The Grain Inspection, Packers, & Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) helps facilitate the marketing of livestock, poultry, meat, cereals, oilseeds, and other agricultural products. A division of the US Department of Agriculture, GIPSA also promotes fair trading practices for consumers and agricultural producers. Its Packers and Stockyards program works to create competitive business environments for marketing meat products, while its Federal Grain Inspection Service does the same for grain and related products. GIPSA was established in 1994.
