About Defense Logistics Agency

You couldn't say that the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) isn't supporting the troops. The Department of Defense's largest combat support agency, the DLA provides logistics support to the US military, civilian agencies, and foreign countries for peace and wartime operations, as well as emergency preparedness and humanitarian missions. With some 27,000 military and civilian employees working in just about all 50 states and nearly 30 countries, the DLA supplies almost every consumable item the US military needs, such as food, clothing, protective gear, medical supplies, construction materials, and fuel. Included in its supply chain is some 85% of the military's spare parts.

Annually, the DLA provides more than $40 billion worth of supplies and services to America's fighting forces. It manages more than 25 distribution depots and receives more than 100,000 requisitions and more than 9,000 contract actions daily. DLA also processes some 5 million items through about 10 supply chains. Its military-specific operations include support for some 2,250 weapon systems.
