The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) provides all the news that's fit to print about commodities. A division of the Department of Agriculture, the AMS covers dairy, fruit and vegetables, livestock and seed, poultry, cotton, tobacco, and specialty crops. Each of its programs comprise commodity specialists who standardize, grade, and offer market news services for their respective goods. It also enforces agriculture-related federal laws, including the Federal Seed Act and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. Domestic and international marketing agreements and orders, administration of research and promotion programs, and purchasing for federal food programs also fall under the auspices of the AMS.
