About McKee Foods Corporation
McKee Foods' Little Debbie is one of the nation's best-known brands of snack cakes, named for and featuring the smiling face of the 4-year-old granddaughter of the company's late founders. The company boasts more than 75 varieties of Little Debbie products, from brownies and cookies to muffins, pies, and pastries. It also makes Sunbelt cereal, granola, and granola bars; Drake's brand snack cakes; and bakery products for foodservice customers through Fieldstone Bakery. With facilities in Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia, and Arizona, McKee sells its baked goods in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Established in 1934, the bakery is still owned and operated by the founding McKee family.
As a private company, McKee Foods does not publicly release full financials. It does, however, report annual sales of about $1.4 billion.
A growing and innovative product portfolio is key in the highly competitive snack market, and McKee Foods enhances its offerings organically as well as through acquisitions. In 2019 the company reintroduced an old favorite from its Drake's brand (Mini Pound Cakes). Also that year it acquired Illinois-based Prairie City Bakery, which added 100-plus varieties of snacks to McKee's cupboard.
