About Monzo

Monzo was founded in 2015 by current CEO Tom Blomfield and several former associates of Starling Bank. The following year, Monzo gained notoriety when it set the record for “quickest crowd-funding campaign in history” after raising one million pounds in just 96 seconds. By 2018, Monzo had acquired more than one million customers and was named “best tech startup to work for” by LinkedIn. Since its inception, the company has expanded its offerings from a mobile app and prepaid debit cards to full service transaction accounts. Monzo is headquartered in East London.

Monzo offers a variety of products and services such as personal and business banking accounts, and its mobile app, which allows users to make online payments, track spending, and manage their debt. Monzo offers a wide variety of career paths across each of its departments. For example, the company has many opportunities in its engineering department such as backend engineer, iOS engineer, web engineer, and more. Along with in-office work in its U.K. HQ, Monzo offers the option of working remotely.

Monzo focuses on four main areas in order to minimize its impact on the environment: card production and delivery, its offices, employee travel, and energy use. The company uses carbon neutral servers, and engages in Environmentally Preferred Purchasing (EPP), stocking only animal-friendly and organic products in its offices. All company employees in the U.K. are encouraged to participate in Cycle to Work, a program that helps employers provide bicycles and related equipment to its associates in an effort to minimize environmental impact.
