Innovating While You Work: Capital One is adding innovative workspaces and solutions across the company to foster collaboration and engagement and to inspire our associates to create cutting-edge experiences for customers. The Capital One Labs—state-of-the-art spaces in San Francisco, New York, and Washington D.C.—are a perfect example. Here, teams of tech-focused, entrepreneurial associates work in an impressive environment where they get to re-imagine how people interact with their money in the digital age. Most importantly, these workspaces embody our mission, instill pride and personality and enhance well-being and happiness.

Making Health and Wellness a Priority: Capital One associates have options and support when it comes to healthy living. Onsite fitness centers (complete with fitness trainers); "Get Active" team challenges; Healthy food options created by chefs to meet dietitian-approved criteria; Weight Watchers discounts; and cash incentives for healthy lifestyle choices are just some of the things available to them. Want to ride a bike around campus between meetings? We’ve got those on one of our campuses too. At our Richmond, Virginia West Creek offices, a Bike Share Program was launched in late 2015 to inspire healthy living and creativity among associates. With bike stations conveniently located across campus, West Creek associates now have the freedom to grab and go - whether cruising to a meeting or simply getting some fresh air.

Kicking Back to Celebrate: Success at Capital One is celebrated. That goes for once-in-a-lifetime achievements and everyday victories. People are encouraged to unwind and sing “Happy Birthday” to coworkers in the office or enjoy a lunch with teammates in honor of a promotion. Many teams have designated fun squads that do things like bring out the weekly snack cart as an afternoon pick-me-up. Larger events throughout the year include awards celebrations, festivals and cookouts.

Building an Inclusive Culture: At Capital One, we aspire every day to create the best experiences for our associates and our customers. This begins with our commitment to build and foster a diverse and inclusive culture where every voice is heard and matters. We believe that everyone has a unique point of view to share, shaped by their life experiences, cultures and passions. We know that to reimagine money – to infuse ingenuity, simplicity and humanity into banking – we must harness the power of our collective wisdom. Only then can we truly bring our best for our customers and each other.

Giving Back to Our Communities: Capital One believes success is amplified when communities are healthy and thriving. Therefore, we place a high priority on community engagement. In 2015, Capital One associates were generous with their time and expertise, volunteering more than 366,000 hours of service to communities and charities across 23 states. Also in 2015, we launched FutureEdge, a program providing community grants to support citizens in a 21st century society. Over five years, the program will invest $150 million to help more Americans succeed in the digitally-driven economy with support from leading educational and community organizations like Black Girls Code – which is devoted to showing the world that girls can code, and do so much more.

Embracing a Tech-treprenurial Spirit: Engaging deeply in the technology community is essential to attracting the digital talent we need to reimagine money for our customers and inspire life. So, in the last year we sponsored the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing® conference – the epicenter of women in Technology– Women Who Code, Black Girls Code and many other organizations. We were a primary sponsor of SXSW, hosting fireside chats, demos, social events and concerts. To amplify our sponsorship of the 2015 Tech Super Women Summit in San Francisco, we hosted a reception at our in-house design firm Adaptive Path with speakers, students and several community partners.
