Affirm was founded in 2012 by current CEO Max Levchin, Nathan Gettings, Jeffrey Kaditz, and Alex Rampell. Levchin’s resume includes co-founding PayPal along with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Affirm has entered into several partnerships since launching its app in 2017. These partnerships include Walmart, Shopify, BigCommerce, and Zen-Cart. The San Francisco-based company went public in 2021.
Affirm offers an array of financial products and services, including loans, interest-free payments, virtual credit cards, and savings accounts. Affirm offers an internship program for students and recent graduates. The program mainly focuses on software engineering, and provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and the ability to build a professional network. Prospective employees will find open opportunities in areas such as marketing, finance, human resources, product management, and IT.
Affirm encourages its associates to volunteer their time in order to help their communities through its Affirm Cares Employee Foundation. The foundation seeks to make an impact in three key areas: financial literacy and inclusion, vibrant communities, and tech education and training. In 2020, the Affirm Cares Employee Foundation helped to donate $300,000 to the Communities of Color Advocacy Fund, $50,000 to Frontline Covid-19 workers, and $100,000 to the Equal Justice Initiative.
