Strategy
Gannett Flemming has made a series of office relocations to be closer to its clients and project work in recent years. In 2014, the company relocated its office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as part of its partnership with Chicago-based MPR Engineering Corp, which specializes in water, wastewater, and water reclamation and reuse services, with the goal of supporting the growing water-related business and research happening in the Midwestern region. That year, it also moved its Michigan operations in Detroit to Ann Arbor, and moved its San Francisco Bay operations in California from Mill Valley to San Bruno.
The company has also enriched its service offerings and broadened its geographic reach over the past few years through strategic acquisitions. In late 2014, Gannett Fleming bought Pennsylvania-based contractor Innovative Engineering, which expanded its electrical engineering, procurement, and turnkey-construction service offerings. In early 2013, the firm purchased Griffin Engineering and Technical Services to extend its reach into a key research region of North Carolina, broaden its HVAC system solution offerings, and move it more into the biotech, pharma, and healthcare markets.
Mergers and Acquisitions
In August 2014, Gannett Fleming acquired electrical design-build contractor Innovative Engineering (doing business as IETC) to expand its electrical engineering, procurement, and turnkey-construction service offerings.
In January 2013, Gannett Fleming acquired Griffin Engineering and Technical Services, which was added to its mechanical and electrical practices group. The purchase expands Gannett Fleming's presence in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina and its testing, adjusting, and balancing of HVAC systems which increases its reach into the biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare fields.
