About Workday, Inc.
In November 2006, Workday launched its very first product: Workday Human Capital Management. Co-founders Angel Bhusri and Dave Duffield came up with the original idea just a year before, over a diner breakfast in California. By 2015, it had grown to international heights, establishing the European HQ in Dublin, Ireland. In 2018, Workday acquired Adaptive Insights, bolstering the Business Planning Cloud planning program. And in 2019, Scout RFP was acquired by Workday, fostering the expansion of planning, executing, and analyzing in a single system that makes for optimal spend. Today, the enterprise software company offers much more than their original product, but continues to develop with that same spirit of innovation in mind. The company’s main goal is to provide a software that adapts with the company. Workday builds on the “Power of One” and creates configurable security and extensible frameworks so the software can grow with the company, rather than the company outgrowing the software.
Workday offers a single software system for all a company’s business and enterprise needs. Workday incorporates finance, HR, planning, and analytics into one unified platform. Within the suite, the company’s products and services range from financial, spend, human capital, talent, and payroll and workforce management to enterprise planning, analytics and reporting, student services, and professional services automation. The robust suite of applications makes Workday a powerful tool for companies, saving them time, money, and labor. For example, Netflix was able to consolidate 11 systems down to 1, and Lifetime Health reduced charts of accounts from 10,000 to 1,000.
Giving back to the community, internally and outside the company, is a huge part of Workday’s culture. Opportunity Onramps is the company’s workforce development program, offering “paid training, internships, and job opportunities to candidates from nontraditional backgrounds.” As a company that facilitates smooth and streamlined work environments, it knows the importance and value of employment and work in our lives. They also fund impact grants for innovative organizations that prepare folks for exciting, lucrative careers. They partner with the Boys and Girls Club, JVS, and Year Up.
Workday makes the work day easier to handle, simpler to plan, and better to experience. Its development from being an HR tool to now providing an enterprise software that hits every company need shows its continued promise as a highly impactful software company.
