About Information Builders, Inc.

Information Builders Inc. (IBI) wants to help your business intelligently with its business intelligence tools. The company's flagship WebFOCUS software makes it easier to conduct data integration and business intelligence analysis over the Internet, intranets, and with mobile devices. Customers use IBI's products to collect, analyze, and distribute a variety of enterprise data. Its iWay Software subsidiary offers middleware technology that helps businesses integrate legacy systems with newer applications. Information Builders also provides consulting, training, and support services.

Information Builders made its name with its legacy FOCUS product, designed primarily for host-based systems, but it has since transitioned its efforts to concentrate on its WebFOCUS product line. WebFOCUS is a web-based application that can be deployed across distributed systems. Software and support related to the product has grown to account for nearly 75% of annual sales. It supports a variety of computing platforms, including hardware from HP, IBM, and Unisys.

Geographic Reach

Information Builders has more than 60 consulting and sales offices around the world, supplemented by two dozen-plus distributors.

Information Builders sells its products through more than 350 business partners. Partners and clients range from strategic (HP and Google) and OEM (Oracle and Fujitsu), which resell or embed IBI's software in their systems, to systems integration and consulting (Hexaware and Atkins) and technology (Red Hat and Teradata) partners that integrate and combine IBI's software with their own systems.

More than 12,000 customers -- including FORTUNE 100 clients, federal agencies, and educational institutions -- use Information Builders' software and services to collect and analyze business data, aiding customers, employees, managers, and trading partners in the decision-making process. Industries of its customers include healthcare, retail, financial services, manufacturing, as well as government agencies and not-for-profit organizations.

Information Builders remains one of the largest private companies in the business intelligence industry, a sector that has undergone significant consolidation in the past couple of years. In 2017 the company received an investment from Goldman Sachs' Private Investing Group. Information Builders indicated the investment would help the company develop more products and services and expand geographically. The amount of the investment was not disclosed. Bregal Sagemount, a private equity firm, participated in the funding.

The company has released new products or new versions of existing products to accommodate new technologies such as blockchain or new compliance issues such at Global Data Privacy Regulation in Europe.
