In 2001, Atlassian started with a couple of college kids and a big idea. The spirit of ingenuity and creativity imbued into the project by co-founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar lives on in the company today, 20 years and a myriad of innovations later. 

Atlassian offers software and products to over 180,000 customers and works out of seven countries. Its original product, Jira Software, helps streamline teamwork for any kind of group, be it a young startup or a longstanding establishment. Companies with similar knacks for innovation and progress like Square, Spotify, and Airbnb all use Jira Software for their teams. Atlassian’s other products include Jira Align for enterprise planning, Jira Core for management, Opsgenie for modern incident response, Confluence for document collaboration, identity protection services like Crowd, and more. Their selection of software allows a company to have access to any help they may need in running their business. 

Since its founding in 2001, Atlassian has been progressing towards a more ethical, exciting future for both themselves and their customers. In 2006, they pledged to donate 1 percent of equity, product, profit, and employee time to charitable causes, thus establishing the Atlassian Foundation. A year later, the company established its five core values, setting it apart from other technology companies of its kind: “Open company, no bull----. Build everything with heart and balance. Don’t #@!% the customer. Play as a team. Be the change you seek.” These values have helped Atlassian move rapidly towards their visions and goals. In 2008, they acquired Bamboo, Fisheye, Crucible, Clover, and Crowd, which grew their suite of developer tools immensely. By 2015, Atlassian went public and now list on the NASDAQ as TEAM. And in 2020, Atlassian published its first sustainability report and launched its podcast, “Teamistry.”
