About Watchguard Technologies, Inc.

Don't accuse WatchGuard Technologies of falling asleep at its post. The company provides a variety of Internet security software and hardware products, including firewalls, email and web security appliances, and anti-virus applications under the XTM and XCS names, among others. Its products guard against a variety of digital security threats, including hackers, viruses, and worms. WatchGuard also offers subscription-based managed services to protect computer networks from intruders and provide threat responses, software updates, spam blocking, and information alerts. The company's more than 600,000 WatchGuard red security appliances are deployed to small and midsized businesses worldwide.

Geographic Reach

WatchGuard serves customers in some 120 countries. It has offices in the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe.

Sales and Marketing

The company partners with resellers and distributors across the globe to market its products, including Tech Data, Ingram Micro, CDW, Synnex, D&H, Interwork, and PC Connection. The company serves the retail and hospitality, education, energy, health care, finance, and government sectors. In Canada and the US, it also sells its products and services through online stores.

Product innovation is key to building the WatchGuard brand. The company regularly rolls out new versions of key products to meet customer demand for additional features. In 2013 it launched two new products to provide security for mobile devices by strengthening the WLAN (wireless local area network). This is particularly important as more companies embrace BYOD (bring-your-own-device) policies. The prior year, WatchGuard introduced a virtual version of its XCS security appliance.

In 2013, the company added seven new models to its line of Extensible Threat Management products. The new enterprise-class XTM products-primarily suited to headquarters, data centers, and managed security services-are the 1520, 1525, 2520 models.

WatchGuard has developed partnerships to extend its products into new areas. In 2014, the company teamed up with Fujitsu Fsas Inc. to deliver managed network security solutions in Japan. Under terms of the agreement, Fujitsu Fsas will add WatchGuard's Next Generation Firewall and Unified Threat Management appliances to its managed service offering and will distribute standalone versions of WatchGuard products.
