Peninsula Gaming owns and operates the Diamond Jo casino in Dubuque, Iowa, that boasts more than 900 slot and video gaming machines, along with entertainment centers, lounges, restaurants, and other amenities. Opened late in 2008, the casino replaced the Diamond Jo riverboat casino, which drew about 14 million visitors each year. Peninsula Gaming also operates a second Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa, as well as the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Opelousas, Louisiana. In addition, its Amelia Belle is a three-tiered riverboat casino in Amelia, Louisiana that was acquired in 2009 for its proximity to Evangeline Downs. Casino operator Boyd Gaming has announced plans to acquire the company.
