About Suez Wts Systems Usa, Inc.

Two-thirds of the Earth is water and some of that stuff can be a little sketchy, so that's where GE Betz (dba GE Water and Process Technologies) steps into the picture. A unit of GE's Energy Infrastructure segment, GE Water manufactures water treatment chemicals, as well as making pumps, filters, and fluid controls that help purify water, work against corrosion, and prepare waste water for disposal. Desalination technologies and mobile water treatment systems are a research and developmental focus for the company. GE Water is #2 in the water treatment market behind Nalco. It serves beverage makers, the chemical processing industry, pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as the power generation and transportation industries.

The company's products include specialty chemicals and water purification systems, pumps, valves, filters, and fluid handling equipment for improving water, wastewater, and process systems (including mobile treatment systems and desalination processes).

Geographic Reach

Parent GE Energy Infrastructure's operations are located in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.

Sales and Marketing

GE Water serves 50,000 customers (including industrial companies and municipalities) in 130 countries.

Introducing innovative technology to large-scale commercial and industrial developments is key to GE Water's growth strategy.

In 2013 the company launched commercial operations of Australia's largest seawater desalination plant (and one of the largest reverse osmosis plants in the world). It is located in the Mebourne area.

The company has also announced plans to bring a desalination plant to South Africa and has built two technology centers to the Gulf region (one each in Dubai and Saudi Arabia). Other projects in the region include a mobile water treatment fleet in Saudi Arabia and a sustainability center in Qatar, which was done in partnership with ConocoPhillips.

It has formed a joint venture with FilterBoxx Water & Environmental Corp. to develop de-oiling and water treatment options for Alberta's oil sands region. The project will develop treatment solutions for water used for injected steam to force the crude oil out of the mine. FilterBoxx's de-oiling and GE's evaporation technologies will achieve a significantly higher recovery rate for produced water, resulting in 30% to 50% less additional water required for the steam-assisted gravity drainage process.

Company Background

GE acquired Power Conversion (then known as Converteam) in September 2011. GE's Power Conversion business applies the science and systems of power conversion to help drive the electric transformation of the world's energy infrastructure. Designing and delivering advanced motor, drive and control technologies that evolve today's industrial processes for a cleaner, more productive future, it serves specialized sectors such as energy, marine, industry and all related services.
