Mercury Air Group keeps its winged shoes on the ground to keep its customers flying high. An aviation services company, Mercury Air provides a range of services for corporate, cargo, and military aircraft through several operating subsidiaries. Key subsidiaries include Mercury Air Cargo (ground handling and logistics), MercFuel (management and distribution of aviation fuels), Maytag Aircraft (aircraft refueling and ground handling at military installations), and Mercury Aviation (fixed base operation, or FBO, management). Mercury Air operates primarily in the US and elsewhere in the Americas; in addition, the company's subsidiaries maintain facilities in Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia/Pacific region.
Strategy
Joint ventures and strategic investments are integral to Mercury Air's growth strategy, and the company has been focused in recent years on expanding its perishable cargo handling operations. In 2012 its perishable logistics company, Apollo Freight, partnered with Hellmann Perishable Logistics to form HPL-Apollo, LLC. The joint venture manages cooler handling operations in Miami and Los Angeles, two cities that see a high influx of fruits, vegetables, and other perishable cargo originating from South America, Mexico, and other markets. The company also opened a perishable center in Los Angeles the year before to handle produce imported from foreign producers and exported to markets overseas.
