Once relocated by US military forces, Cherokees today control a US military contractor. Cherokee Nation Industries (CNI), owned by the Cherokee Nation, assembles and distributes cable and wire harnesses for use in military aviation. Subsidiaries include Cherokee Nation CND (manufacturer of electric panels, racks, enclosures, and cable assemblies) and Cherokee Nation Metalworks (fabricated assemblies and components for commercial and military aircraft as well as missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programs). CNI also provides office products and document and print management services through Cherokee Nation Office Solutions. The company's customers have included heavy hitters Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and NASA.
