Chris Blackburn, senior manager
“It’s exciting to know that clients are looking to me for insight and experience—a resource— to help inform a course of action. They know I’m bringing insights—not just my own, but experiences from others at Deloitte. And it’s rewarding to work with the decision-makers of Fortune 500 companies.”
Aaron Werth, managing director
“I started out as a traditional CPA, and I found I had a knack for data. I think we had great ideas for how to use data in audit, but the world was not quite ready yet. But that’s changed. The world is ready, and the transformation is happening now.”
Maria Zunzunegui-Navarro, audit senior
“They say you are the average of your closest friends and colleagues. So what better pool to be in than a place like Deloitte?”
Winta Habteslassie, senior
“When I was younger, I didn’t even know this work existed. I didn’t know what Deloitte was about or what professional services meant. Now I get to tell 7th and 8th graders, ‘Look at all these amazing opportunities available to you!’ “
Aaron Brown, audit manager
"I'd take two lessons from Deloitte … making sure that your people come first. Happy people make for a successful company. And then … not everybody should have the same mentality. You should definitely have diversity on your team, different people with different skill sets."
Devon Konikow, senior manager
“Always say yes to new learnings and challenges. You're going to have a lot of different opportunities thrown your way … working with different teams, working with different people, and working in different industries. Always keep an open mind.”
Dale Livezey, specialist master
“Once at Deloitte, you need to build your network ... You’ll find connections to projects you never imagined, which may lead to broader opportunities on down the road as your experience, industry knowledge, and skillset improve.”
Jon Gonzalez, partner
“I am really big into trying to connect my personal life with Deloitte. My boys are classic kids, loving sports and everything, but they also have a variety of hobbies. They love to draw, color, paint, do arts and crafts. My oldest son is a knitter. During the busy season, he actually came into the office on a Saturday and taught my teams how to finger knit blue, green, and white bracelets. One of the seniors on my team went to the Super Bowl and she wore her bracelet.”
Laura Ivory, managing director
“As long as you are happy and passionate, you will do well. If you have that drive, you are going to be successful.”
T'Shaka Lee, partner
“As a child I lived an impoverished life, but I didn't realize I was poor until I was almost an adult and came to the US, which is quite an accomplishment as a child of a single mother. The most influential person in my life was my grandmother. I spent a lot of time with her and I think that if I reflect on who I am as a person, my grandmother motivated me. She never had any formal education, but was perhaps the wisest person I’ve known. She was very clear that you need to live a life of gratitude and do whatever you can to be a rainbow in the lives of other people.”
Paige Bellittieri, manager
“To be completely honest, in the beginning of my junior year I had no idea, I just knew I wanted an accounting internship. I went to a workshop at my career center at Adelphi and they started talking about the big four firms and I said, ‘You know what, I want to work for one of the big firms.’ It just sounded appealing to me. I interviewed with a few of the firms and then I got a random phone call from my career counselor asking me if she could forward my resume to Deloitte & Touche LLP. I said, ‘Sure, of course.’ And I got an interview for the mentorship program, which is where Deloitte takes college students to three events over the summer to provide an opportunity to interact with professionals. Ultimately that’s how I got my internship in 2011.”
Tony Griglione, manager
"When I was offered a full-time position at Deloitte, I’ll be honest, I didn’t look anywhere else."
