A couple years ago, Ann Israel, the legal recruiter who writes The New York Lawyer’s long-running Advice for the Lawlorn column, was fooled by a fake letter.  When Israel caught wind of the prank, scolding and high dudgeon ensued.   Well, I think it’s happened again: this question cannot be genuine.   In light of the general climate described in Vera’s earlier post, anyone asking after his ‘first-year signing bonus’ has to be assumed to be making a tasteless joke.
