Baseball pro Brian Giles, slapped with a $10 million civil suit for allegedly slapping around his ex-girlfriend, may be wise to keep tabs on the case of Yoichi and Ayisha Shimamoto, the couple suing United Airlines for allegedly getting Yoichi drunk enough in flight to beat his wife upon landing (link via Above the Law). Ayisha?s standing by her man despite the facial injuries Yoichi inflicted upon her after getting sloshed on burgundy while flying from Osaka to San Francisco; they?re seeking to recover around $100K for bail and legal fees as well as an undefined top-off for pain, suffering, loss of income, whatever.

Giles, as famous for his frosted tips as for his T. rex-armed power stroke, is accused of throwing his longtime girlfriend down a hallway while she was pregnant, among other valiant acts (she later miscarried). Luckily for the 37-year-old Giles, he?s already got a couple of alternative careers in mind ? as either ?a chef at Benihana?or maybe a meteorologist.?
