Media is an incredibly tough industry to break into. It is vital that you show ruthless commitment to the profession. This CV shows a range of experience in different positions and publications. Textbook journalism is not enough; you need to be able to show the range of skills that you picked up whilst working directly in the field. Languages are an asset as are solid computer skills and experience or skills in photography and design. Being a good writer isnt enough. Solid research skills, a second or third language and, for example, sub-editing skills, are more likely to get you an interview than simply enjoying writing. To pursue a career in media, you have to sell yourself as a package of relevant and related skills and experiences. Be sure to highlight any year abroad or Erasmus exchange experiences as not all degrees offer this unique opportunity.
